CANIDAE Trophy Truck
SCORE San Felipe 250 Live Blog

3/13 @ 3:45pm

Well, we're back at the house. Chase One and CANIDAE's very own Jason Cobb made their way out to mile 19 and picked up Whipple and Patrick. It does appear that something let go in the engine. Zero oil pressure and loud knock, not good. All chase vehicles and crew members are back safe. We will all have a lot of work to do to make it to the Mint. Thank you all for following us.

Whipple and Patrick getting in the truck to head to starting line. They're excited, and the #95 T/T is shiny, classy, and looking like a diamond in the ruff!!! Ruff ruff!!!

3/13 @ 7:00am

Chase crews are all out. Whipple and Pat are all suited up and ready to go. They're getting ready to get into the #95 CANIDAE Pet Foods T/T and make their way to the starting line. Trophy Trucks go off at 10:00am, and we drew last starting position so will probably leave the line around 10:30. We will do our best to keep you updated, and remember to watch us live on Ion Earth.

6:00 am race day! Gene and his crew took off at 5:00am to set up pit 2. Long treacherous drive on sandy dirt roads. Dave is head of the kitchen, cooking up chorizo and egg burritos. Gailey is in his PJs walking on the beach. The rest of the guys are awakening from their perch. The energy is starting to flow, the excitement is starting to build. It's race day! The day we have all worked so hard for is finally here.

3/12 @ 5:00pm

After testing the truck, the team stopped by our friends at Zapps Rescue where we fed the dogs Snap-Biscuits and dropped off nearly 500 lbs of food. The people here at Zapps are doing amazing things for the local dogs and were so happy we were able to help them out. We're now off to check out the rest of the race crew and hopefully they have the truck all ready to go for tomorrow and are not taking a siesta!

What a day! We lined up in the contingency lane at 9:30 this morning [first picture] and contingency started rolling around 10:30. Team CANIDAE was the big hit with the locals! We handed out hundreds of stickers, wrist bands, hero cards and sponsor information. After we were through, we took the truck down Zoo road for a shake down. Whipple reports the truck is running great and the new gear reduction from Tubeworks woke the horsepower up big time!

Team CANIDAE is all loaded up and heading for contingency! It's a beautiful day!

After a great day pre running, the CANIDAE T/T crew enjoys a well-deserved dinner in town at local San Felipe restaurant.

3/11 @ 6:15pm

A successful day! Gailey, Johnny and Patrick made it back safe. They lost an alternator, but luckily the Geiser pre runner had a back up. Upon their return Whipple and Dave jumped in the pre runner to get some more excellent footage of hauling the mail. Stay tuned for some awesome video. Thank goodness the ole iPhone has service so we can keep in touch. Off to dinner in town!

This morning started off with a beautiful sunrise as the CANIDAE T/T team watched the picturesque scene as the fire-glowing sun peaked its way over the ocean in San Felipe. Whipple, Pat and Rupp started their day bright and early, pre running the new 40 mile section out of zoo road. The new trail is sandy, narrow and full of whoops. Not much passing is going on here. Get in the groove and go, and try not to hit the huge cactus lining each side of the trail! The pre run once again went flawless. Whipple and Pat are ready for the first 110 miles of the Baja 250. Gailey's luck unfortunately remained the same. After working on their pre runner all day yesterday they were confident they had it dialed in. Taking off at 7:30 this morning the voice came over the radio, "blown engine." Fortunately they were close and the awesome CANIDAE crew went out and towed Gailey and Johnny back at the house. Whipple, Patrick and Rupp topped off the Geiser pre runner and handed over the awesome machine to Gailey, Johnny and Patrick so they could finally pre run their section. Gailey pulled up at one of the pits, opened the door, and to our amazement had his shoes off and was driving in his socks! Johnny was cold sitting in the back third seat as the air conditioner was blowing right on him. Rough pre run in Mexico!! The team just radioed in from mile marker 176, as chase 3 sits in front of the house just a few hundred yards off the beach. Even though the pre running has gone a little tough, the team has pulled together and figured out a way to make it all work. Like a wise man once said, "Where there is a will, there is a way." We hope to report back soon that Gailey is back safe and pre running was completed successfully.

Local San Felipe puppy, just got full on CANIDAE Snap Bits treats. We're handing them out to the local dogs, and they're eating them up like candy!

3/10 @ 4:45pm

Team CANIDAE just finished the first day of pre running in beautiful San Felipe. Scott, Pat and Carl took off in their new Geiser pre runner. The team reported the truck ran flawlessly and their day was highly successful. They covered 228 miles today and said the coarse was rough and narley. Gailey and Johnny had a tough start. Their pre runner was giving a bit of trouble early on popping and banging. Half way down zoo road they turned around and came back to the house. After hours of working on the carbs and putting the car back together, they finally got her purring like a kitten. As a reminder always check the easy stuff first :). Fresh shrimp, halibut and carne asada were on the barby tonight, and the gang ran off to fetch some firewood. We look forward to pre running again tomorrow!
