"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:19-20
Billy Graham once said that if you lose your money, you've really lost nothing. If you lose your health, you've lost something. But if you lose your character, you've lost everything. Why? Because your character validates or invalidates every word you say. It is the filter through which you are heard, either serving to amplify and clarify your words, or silence them. Without character, you don't have a voice. Sure, people might hear what you say, but they will not listen. You may make noise, but you will never make an impact.
In Matthew 28, Jesus tells us to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations." He commands us to make an impact on our world. It is our great privilege -- our Great Commission -- to actively represent our Lord and Savior, and to teach others what He has taught us. But how can anyone make a single disciple of Jesus Christ if they aren't a disciple first? How can we possibly impact our friends and families, much less "all nations," if our actions invalidate our words?
You see, if we're not living it, they're not seeing it.
Many people around the world are doubters of the Gospel today because they've never seen it. Maybe they've heard about Jesus, but they've never seen His power in someone's life. We, as believers, need to have character that is rooted in the renewing and transforming power of Jesus Christ. We are His mouthpiece to a dying and hopeless world, and our lives are the filter through which His Word is heard. If we don't live by God's Word, we muzzle it. If our character stands in contrast to the truth of God that we proclaim, we invalidate it to those who hear. But if God is our integrity, He will be our megaphone. If He is actively working in our lives, people will notice--and they will listen.
As the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words. But words are still necessary.
If the righteousness of Jesus Christ is your megaphone, speak up! As the Lord works in your life and people take notice, tell them about it! Just as we can silence God's voice by invalidating it, so we can mute it by refusing to be His mouthpiece at all. Neither is God's will.
The message of salvation through Jesus Christ is too powerful to leave you unchanged, and too important not to share.
What are you living for today? What are your priorities? Our God is a powerful God, so why do we often walk in fear and defeat? His love and forgiveness are perfect and everlasting, so why do we harbor bitterness, anger, and jealousy? If we believe God's Word, let's live it. We don't want to be people who are out of touch with God, "having a form of godliness but denying its power" (2 Timothy 3:5). And we don't want to be people who sit on the greatest news ever given mankind, missing the urgency of the Gospel. May we be people who love the Lord with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength (Mark 12:30).
May we be people who actively live by the Word of God, and who are unashamed to speak it!

Fear is mentioned 365 times- Faith is mentioned 458 times- and Worry is mentioned 15 times.(NIV) Have you ever driven down the highway and noticed the "check engine" light? Even if there was no strange engine noise or visible smoke, you knew the warning light meant something was wrong— you started to panic and all sorts of things start to rummage through your head and most likely you called your husband or took the car to a mechanic. Why? Because you knew that the warning light was connected to the engine—though you could not see the problem, you saw the warning message.
And you know that there is a connection between fear and faith. We may think that our life is running fine, but then the red light of fear begins flashing. That fear signals that it is time to check our engines of faith. Most fears are based on the "what if’s" we generate in our minds, which are often rooted in a distrust in God. Did you know that 99.9 % of the things we worry about never happen? Isn’t that amazing? But we still worry and have fear. Worry and fear are the opposite of faith and trust.
Are you struggling with fear right now? Something in your life has you paralyzed? Psalm 34:4 says, "I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." God wants to release you, so ask Him! Why not take that fear to God?(1Peter 5:7 "Cast ALL your fears on Him because He cares for you") Jesus had a lot to say about worry and fear, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:25, 34). Many people try to escape their fears through alcohol or drugs, overworking or unhealthy activities or relationships. These are only temporary and only compound the problem and most of the times bring destruction. The source of the fear remains and we continue to ride this roller coaster of fear and doubt.
Here is some great news
The answer to fear is in the promises of God, not trying to escape from it. (Romans 10:17 So Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God) If we do not learn how to master our fears, our fears will master us. In order to conquer our fears, we must do two things: pray our fears out, while praying faith in; and claim the very power of God.(2 Tim 1:7 God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit power, of love and a sound mind..) When we cry out to God, He will listen to us. God loves to hear the cries of His children who seek to grow in faith. "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears" (Psalm 34:4). When we realize our own inadequacies and our total dependence on God, we take a first step in overcoming our fears. We can be confident that a prayer for faith and in faith is one that will be answered. (It’s not as easy as you think it is getting up here and speaking or speaking at a race or a memorial service or at Juvenile hall. It’s a big responsibility and fear comes in, but that’s why we pray. God you have prepared me and I have done my best to study and listen to your voice.) I’m stepping out in faith and giving you my fear. Amen.
God will help us when we acknowledge our fears in prayer. He wants us to share with Him the cause of our concerns. Even when we don’t know the source of our anxiety, the Holy Spirit will work on our behalf when we seek His help. We may fool the people around us with a brave face, but our masks never fool God. He knows what is in our hearts, He knows what’s troubling us and He wants us to confess those fears to Him. He won’t force His way, but He will wait patiently.
Pray for God’s power in your life. Part of the reason for Jesus’ time here on earth was to demonstrate His power. He showed us that God’s Messiah (our savior) has power to redeem us from our sins, to heal diseases, and to still whatever storms we face in life. God wants to show us that power today. He waits until we run out of human solutions before manifesting His power to His us. When we try to draw on our own strength, peace and our own will instead of God’s, we end up in the stormy waters. Only the power of God which sustains the whole universe can sustain us in every circumstance we face.
Are you trying to escape your fear, or conquer it through destructive activities or do you seek the power of God, the only One who gives victory over anxiety? Remember when Jesus spoke to the storm in (Mark 4:35 He was taking a well-deserved nap (but before they had even left the dock, Jesus says to them, "Let’s get the other side" but half way over, there was a crazy storm going on, so they woke Him woke up and said "teacher don’t you care that we are about to drown up here we are afraid for our lives, this storm is outta control. So Jesus gets up (probably shook his head and yawned) went upstairs and rebuked the wind and said to the storm, "Peace Be Still" and the wind ceased and there was great calm. BUT HE said to them "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have little faith" After they just heard Him say, "Let’s get to the other side", they still had little faith. You might be riding a tidal wave of fear right now, Jesus tells you tonight, Hey, Peace Be Still, We’re gonna get to the other side. I’m on the boat with you, let’s go take a nap.
Matthew 17:20 Jesus speaking, "because you have little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you! What are the mountains in your life tonight? Just name it, and move it. The Lord is my Light and my Salvation--whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1
Does it make sense to have faith in God? Yes, because the bible tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith! Is it possible to release all our fears and failures into God’s hands? Each time those questions are asked, the answer is always, "Yes." There are times in our lives when the road ahead seems uncertain; when the answers we desperately seek are elusive. As long as we depend on our own understanding and reasoning, our faith will waiver. When that warning light comes on, Jesus says to you, Peace Be Still. There are a lot of crazy things happening in our world right now, and we can be easily overcome with fear. But Jesus said; fear not, when these signs begin to happen, look up, for your redemption draws near.
Knowing that God is our loving Heavenly Father makes it easier to release control of our fears to Him. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5).
Here are three steps that may help us to overcome fear
The first step in overcoming fear is recognizing and identifying what fear is and its origin. Fear is the response of the emotions to uncertainty of things unknown or anticipated, insecurity and guilt. The everyday things of life provide many opportunities to fear: "Will I lose my job? Will I have enough money to pay my bills? Will I or one of my loved-ones get sick and die? Will my spouse leave me? Are my kids ok?" These thoughts originate from Satan, the enemy of our souls and cause us great anguish. While all of these questions are possibilities, there is no reason to anticipate loss and failure. Bad things as well as good things happen to all people. Satan's trick is to make us feel that we will receive nothing but bad things and bad news right, he wants us paralyzed and to believe that we will be unable to cope. He wants us to feel we will be overcome by evil.
The second step in overcoming fear is to resist it by faith. Once we accept that fear is generated by the evil will of Satan who lies and accuses, we can begin to resist it. "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith... " (1 Peter 5:8-9). Faith is not just asking and receiving; faith is acknowledging who God is and fully accepting Him. When we realize that God is our Father, that He is all powerful and that He loves us, we will realize that there is no situation in life, real or imagined, that God will not be able and willing to help us. Through the love and power of God anything can be conquered. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son ship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father" (Romans 8:15).
Thirdly, we must sidestep the pitfall of guilt. Often we live in fear, because we accept the lie that we will have "bad things" happen to us because we have done "bad things." We believe that sickness or loss will come on us because we have sinned. The Bible lets us know that, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12). God is not seeking to punish us for our sins; He has already laid our sins upon His precious Son, Jesus and the penalty has already been paid. We have the right to rest in the knowledge that we are children of God and God will provide for us. "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread" (Psalm 37:25).
Lastly, we should stand on God's Word, His promises. God is as good as His Word. He will do whatever He has promised. This is our security and anchor; we can know that whatever does come into our life does not have to shake us because of what Jesus has done. "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul..." (Hebrews 6:19). If fear is a problem in our lives, we can turn fully to the Lord who is always waiting to help us: "And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me" (Psalms 50:15).
Here are some more reasons not to fear.
HOPE because God is working on your behalf.
In all things God works for the good of those who love Him. ROMANS 8:28
JOY because God has a plan for you.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "...plans to give you hope and a future." JEREMIAH 29:11
PEACE because God will be wherever you go.
I am with you always. MATTHEW 28:20
LOVE because God deeply cares for you.
How wide and long and deep and high is the love of Christ. EPHESIANS 3:18
STRENGTH because God gives you everything you need.
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. PHILLIPIANS 4:13
CONFIDENCE because God made you who you are.
God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. GENESIS 1:31
COURAGE because God can do more than you can imagine!

What happens to precious metal when it is refined by fire? It is purified and made even more beautiful. Throughout the Bible we see images of God's people being refined. In the New Testament, Peter encourages us, "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed" (1 Peter 1:6, 7).
The believers in Smyrna faced intense persecution, but it served as a refinery for their faith. The church in Smyrna not only followed the Truth, but they loved Jesus wholeheartedly. They were a people known for their devotion to the Lord. The pagan society hated these Christians because of this faithfulness. These believers suffered persecution, intimidation, and hatred by the culture around them. Yet instead of losing hope, the Smyrna church grew in its love and dedication to Christ.
As today's church faces increased persecution, we can gain comfort and assurance from Jesus' words in His letter to Smyrna: "I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death" (Revelation 2:9-11).
Like the church in Smyrna, we live in a culture that worships anything and anyone except the one true God. While the world preaches tolerance, it is intolerant of one thing: the Truth of the Gospel of Christ. Satan is using the same tactics today that he did two thousand years ago. He tries to intimidate and frighten us. He knows we do not want to be rejected. He knows we do not want to be hated. His goal is to silence us about speaking about Jesus Christ.
But no matter what opposition we face, Jesus will remain with us. He knows the false accusations against us. He knows the price we pay for integrity and faithfulness. He knows that the world hates us because of our love for Him. He knows that Satan will try to intimidate us into silence and compromise.
This is why Jesus encourages His church, "Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer" (Revelation 2:10). Nothing can banish our fears like the power of the resurrected Jesus Christ! Jesus can give us confidence and strength in the midst of trouble, hatred, and persecution. He gives us comfort and understanding in our afflictions, because He has experienced far worse than we can imagine. He holds us in the very palms of His hands during our darkest hours. He can turn around the evil working against us in order to work for good. As Paul explained his own suffering for Christ, "Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel" (Philippians 1:12).
Persecution and suffering are never easy, but they will eventually come to each of us in some form. Are we allowing God to use our persecutions for the advancement of the Gospel? Or are the devil's schemes winning by keeping us silent? When confronted with taunts and sneers, do we distance ourselves from Jesus or does our love for Him grow? Pray for willingness to allow Christ to refine you today.
"Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes."
(Psalm 119:157)

TODAY'S WORD
I grew up playing sports, Football, Wrestling and Motorcycle Racing and I’ve experienced the difference it makes to have somebody in the stands pulling for you. When you know they’re watching you, you hear them calling your name, you see their hands up in the air; it does something on the inside. It causes you to jump a little higher and run a little faster and to endure a little longer. You’ve got a greater determination because you know somebody is rooting for you.
Today, you have a great multitude in heaven cheering you on! They’re saying, " You can do it! You’re a winner! You are well able, strong and equipped. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!"
No matter what difficulty you may be facing, you always have the home field advantage. You are always surrounded by the voice of victory. Let that sink down deep into your heart today. Let it build confidence in you and give you the strength you need to keep moving forward into the abundant, victorious life He has prepared for you!

Racers For Christ
Ephesians 4:32 -- "Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ has also forgiven you."
Most of the ground that Satan gains in the lives of Christians is due to lack of forgiveness. We are warned to forgive others so that Satan cannot take advantage of us (2 Corinthians 2:10, 11). God requires us to forgive others from our hearts or He will turn us over to the tormentors (Matthew 18:34, 35). Why is forgiveness so critical to our freedom? Because of the cross. God didn't give us what we deserve; He gave us what we needed according to His mercy. We are to be merciful just as our heavenly Father is merciful (Luke 6:36). We are to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:31, 32).
Forgiveness is not forgetting. People who try to forget find that they cannot. God says He will "remember no more" our sins (Hebrews 10:17), but God, being omniscient, cannot forget. "Remember no more" means that God will never use the past against us (Psalm 103:12). Forgetting may be a result of forgiveness, but it is never the means of forgiveness. When we bring up the past and use it against others, we haven't forgiven them.
Forgiveness is a choice, a crisis of the will. We choose to face and acknowledge the hurt and the hate in order to forgive from the heart. Since God requires us to forgive, it is something we can do. (He would never require us to do something we cannot do.) But forgiveness is difficult for us because it pulls against our concept of justice. We want revenge for offenses suffered. But we are told never to take our own revenge (Romans 12:19). "Why should I let them off the hook?" we protest. You let them off your hook, but they are never off God's hook. He will deal with them fairly--something we cannot do.
If you don't let offenders off your hook, you are hooked to them and the past, and that just means continued pain for you. Stop the pain; let it go. You don't forgive someone merely for their sake; you do it for your sake so you can be free. Your need to forgive isn't an issue between you and the offender; it's between you and God.
Prayer: Lord, I stand amazed at the example of Your forgiveness. I desire to grow in my willingness to forgive those who have hurt me.
Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says "Oh Shoot, He's up!" Brother, life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who love you and treat you right. Forgive the ones who don’t.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  Believe in yourself and that God isn’t finished with the work He started in you.  Go the extra mile for somebody who can’t. When you encourage others, you will find yourself being encouraged too!  Allow God to take you out of your comfort zone and get beyond yourself, your fears, your doubts, your disappointments and your past.  Be bold and step out in faith and do something new.  You just might find your purpose, if you let it find you! If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it, and help change somebody else’s life by your experiences.  Remember that you’re not perfect and you will make mistakes (some of us over and over), but that’s what God uses to help us grow.  Don’t be afraid to admit you are wrong when you are.  Love your wife with all of your heart.  Help her become the women that God has created her to be.  They are fighting a different battle then us and need our support and understanding. Love your kids and help them to see what God sees and to believe in themselves and that He has a plan and purpose for their lives.  Take a few minutes to think before you act or speak when you're mad.  Forgive quickly.  God never said life would be easy, He just promised it would be worth it if we walk it out and put our trust in HIM. Â

1 TIM 4:1-2
"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."1
Some time ago I read the following story in Focus on the Family magazine about a man who bought a car that had replaced warning lights with spoken instructions from a woman.
In a soft voice, his little woman, as he called her, would say, "Your door isn't closed properly." "Your key is still in the ignition." "Your seatbelt isn't fastened properly."
On one occasion, he recalled how the voice of his little woman said, "Your fuel level is getting low."
The driver thanked her and, figuring he had sufficient fuel to take him fifty more miles, ignored the voice and kept driving. Soon his little woman repeated, "Your fuel level is low." The longer he drove, the more his little woman repeated her warning.
Getting frustrated, he stopped his car, searched under the dashboard, and found the appropriate wires. One quick jerk and his little woman was silenced.
Imagine the look on his face when, a few minutes later, his car sputtered and jerked to a standstill—out of fuel! One could almost imagine a grin on his little woman's face!
We all have a little voice within. It's called conscience. It can get very annoying at times, too. Sometimes we "pull its wires" and, too late, we discover we are "out of fuel."
One danger, when we ignore the voice of our conscience and don't live according to our convictions, is that our mind experiences what counselors call "cognitive dissonance." That is, mental disharmony. Because this is too uncomfortable to live with, we switch off our conscience.
When we do this often enough, our mind not only switches off the voice of conscience but turns up the volume on the voice of rationalization and justification.
The sad fact is that if we don't live the life we believe, we end up unhappily believing the life we live. The Bible calls this having a seared conscience. It is a dangerous and self-destructive path to follow.
"Dear God, please help US to realize the danger of switching off the voice of conscience and justifying what WE want to do. Please help US to live the life WE believe—a life that is lived in harmony with your will and your Word. Thank you for hearing and answering OUR prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."
(Exodus 14:13) Moses answered the people. Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.
(Deuteronomy 31:8) The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

(Haggai 2:5) This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.

(1 John 4:16-19) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. {17} In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. {18} There is no fear in love. Isaiah 45:5-7
I admit that I often don’t understand why bad things happen and you probably don’t either. Even so, I believe that God has a purpose for everything He does or permits. My faith is rooted in the biblical principle that says the Lord is sovereign (Ps. 22:28). He is in absolute control of this universe, the natural and political climate of this earth, my life and yours.
When we are in the midst of a trial, it is hard to resist crying out, “God, Why is this happening?” Sometimes we get an answer and sometimes we don’t. What we can be sure of is that nothing happens by accident or coincidence as some would have you believe. He has a purpose for even our most painful experiences. Moreover, we have His promise to “cause all things to work together for good to those who love God” (Rom. 8:28).
Seeing in advance how the Lord will work evil or hurt for our benefit is very difficult. My limited human perspective doesn’t allow me to grasp His greater plan. However, I can confirm the truth of this biblical promise because the Father’s handiwork appears through my pain, hardship, and loss. I have experienced Him turn mourning into gladness and have seen Him reap bountiful blessings and benefits from my darkest hours.
As believers, we must accept that God won’t always make sense to us. Isaiah teaches that His ways and thoughts are higher than our own (Isa. 55:9). He sees the beautifully completed big picture. We can rely on the fact that God is in control, no matter how wildly off-balance our world seems to spin.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

I have watched a number of people lately who seem to be riding a tsunami of anger, bitterness and resentment in their lives. In most cases they seem to be carrying baggage from things that happened to them in the past, and/or the decisions they feel they have made in response, which now affect their future. Some may have suffered abuse, divorce, estrangement, but whatever the issues, they have decided this will be the crutch for their future. Let me tell you from experiencing many of these things but being a "blamer”, it is pitiful. Yes, bad things can happen to "good" people, good things can happen to "bad" people and you can either continue blaming your past for your problems or you can grow up by realizing you make your own choices now. I don't believe "God helps those who help themselves" – that is not in the Bible. God will help you, God will be with you in the good and bad times and I don't pretend to understand all of the "why's?", but I do know we live in a fallen world. God helps those who can't help themselves,because if you could help yourself then we wouldn't need God. People were given free wills to make their own choices, even the choice as to whether you are for or against God. You also have a choice in what you drag around with you and who you drag in with you.
In a real tsunami people and things are carried along by the waves. You can do that with your feelings...you can use things from your past to taint everyone and everything you touch by dragging them in. You can do this by using hurts, resentment and anger to try to get back at the people who hurt you...except usually the one you hurt the most is yourself. You can blame those events or people but in the end you make YOUR choices. You may use those things as your basis..."if only this hadn't happened or they had done this, then my life would be better"...guess what? It is PAST! It doesn't mean forgetting or forgiving is easy. Some things will trigger a visceral response you can't even plan for...but work through it. If you decide to use drugs, sex, drinking, relationships, etc. to escape, you will reap the consequences despite blaming others. Did you ever think that maybe you don't have all the facts about all the things you have been affected by? Some things you may have survived by being old enough to remember--but our age, full grasp of the situation and the people around us influence our memories of an event. Ask four siblings about an event that happened in their childhood and you may get four different versions of the same event. Each is told through the eyes of the sibling by how they felt during the event, how old they were and how they felt towards the others involved, not to mention how the re-telling may be spoon-fed by an older person involved. If you don't know all the facts...try to get them. Go to the most trustworthy and un-objective source(s). If there are court records, get a copy if they are public record--but be aware you may find out more than you wanted to know.
If you are a parent, be honest with your kids...sometimes people are reactive in one relationship but can have kind and loving relationships in the future. Sometimes people lose control...people are fallible, admit it, ask for forgiveness and move on...unless it's an ongoing issue. If you have things that you don't have control of in your life: anger; alcohol; trust issues; problems in your relationships, get help. It's never too late to take responsibility for your own actions!
Someone once told me "Desperado" was a good song to describe me (because I didn't want to hurt people the way I had been hurt and I didn't want to let people in to hurt me). So take the same advice I took from him and the song, "you better let somebody love you, before it's too late."
Don't let your pain destroy your whole life...there is time to let people who love you in before it's too late. They want to help you and Jesus is always on call 24/7. It's sad to see a person approaching 70 blame all the problems in their life on everybody else instead of on their own choices. Sad to see a middle-aged person with such a sense of entitlement by baffling people with deception and getting away with it for so long people would rather roll over and let them have their way than have to bear their wrath. But the saddest are those younger people who will ruin their lives unless they wake up by letting go of what they can't change and accepting responsibility for what they do in the future.
I don't know too many people who would claim to have a perfect childhood, even if we think they did. Somebody said it this way..."If you make it to adulthood, you've survived childhood. If you make it through and it was good, it's a bonus." Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart,and don't depend on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge GOD and He will make your path straight!

"Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer."
Sometimes the seemingly simple things in life can teach us some of the most important lessons. Take ants, for example. Even though their "brain" (central ganglion or nerve) is less than one-tenth the size of a pinhead, ants live in highly organized social colonies. Some collect food, others build the nest and keep it clean, and some look after the queen ants. Nurse ants clean and feed the larvae. Soldier ants guard and protect the food-collecting ants. No wonder the Bible says, "Go to the ant … consider her ways and be wise."
Among other lessons, the ants "who store up their food in the summer" teach us the importance of being prepared ahead of time for whatever might come our way. The Chinese proverb, "Dig your well before you're thirsty" makes the same point. Children need to be prepared for life, teenagers and young adults need to be prepared for entering the work force, and for taking care of themselves. Those who are planning to be married need to prepare in advance for it; unfortunately, too many don't. And all adults need to prepare ahead for retirement and old age.
Most important of all, we need to prepare for life after life when we will meet our Maker face to face. As God's Word says, "Prepare to meet your God," and as Jesus taught about his return to earth, "Be ready; for when you least expect it, I will come." How tragic beyond all measure for those who aren't prepared for life after death or that day when Jesus returns for all his true followers.
Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to trust in you and, in so doing, always be prepared for whatever lies ahead—especially for life after death and for the day of your return. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."
Be Still and Know That I am God!
Whatever comes your way, know that Christ is in your struggles with you. He knows what it means to suffer, for He, the sinless Son of God, suffered the pangs of death and hell for you. He knows what it means to be tempted, and "because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." (Hebrews 2:18)
In the midst of every situation of life, He can give an inner calm and strength that we could never imagine apart from Him. "Peace I leave with you," He said, "my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27) This, then, is our hope in the storms of life - Jesus will be with us through it all.
When I say ..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting, "I am clean livin"
I'm whispering, "I was lost"
Now I'm found and forgiven"

I don't speak of this with pride,
I'm confessing that I stumble,
and need Christ to be my guide.

Your personal relationship with God should bring you more joy, satisfaction and pleasure than any other relationship, activity or material possession you have. Just as this verse encourages you to delight yourself in the Lord, finding your greatest pleasure in God, and the things that are close to His heart. He wants you to enjoy the awesome things in life that bring you joy fulfillment and the blessings He has given to you , but He wants to be the true desire of your heart. Spend time in prayer with Him, seek His heart and soon you will find that you will be asking Him, "Father, what do you desire for me? I know you have your best for me and your plans for my life are far better than the plans I have. How do you want to use me and my life to bring Glory to you and help bring people to Jesus?" When you seek His desires, Your desires will change.
People might forget what you say or do, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1)
I grew up playing sports (Football, Wrestling and Motorcycle Racing) and I’ve experienced the difference it makes to have somebody in the stands pulling for you. When you know they’re watching you, you hear them calling your name, you see their hands up in the air; it does something on the inside. It causes you to jump a little higher and run a little faster and to endure a little longer. You’ve got a greater determination because you know somebody is rooting for you.
Today, you have a great multitude in heaven cheering you on! They’re saying, “You can do it! You’re a winner! You are well able, strong and equipped. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!”
No matter what difficulty you may be facing, you always have the home field advantage. You are always surrounded by the voice of victory. Let that sink down deep into your heart today. Let it build confidence in you and give you the strength you need to keep moving forward into the abundant, victorious life He has prepared for you!

FORGIVENESS, THE MOST EXCELLENT WAY
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
Colossians 3:12-13
If you are "bearing with" someone, that person is affecting your life right now. I wonder if there is someone, or a number of people, with whom you are struggling right now? It may be a family member or a co-worker, and that old nature of yours is getting frustrated with them; you are tired of bearing with them. But the new nature says that you are to love them, and we know from 1 Corinthians 13 that love bears all things, hopes all things, believes all things, and endures all things. How can we possibly respond in love when our old nature is telling us that we've done enough, that to respond in love isn't worth the effort? Simple. God's Word shows us that as we walk in the Spirit, our old nature is put to death; the nature of Jesus will respond instead, and that response will be one of love.
Paul also instructs us here that as Jesus Christ has forgiven us, so are we to forgive others. Forgiveness involves dealing with things that have already happened. I know from talking with people over the years that there are many people who struggle with things from their past. They still remember things that their parents said or did,maybe divorce or even abuse. Hurts from an old boyfriend or girlfriend still affect them. And with so many of the stories I have heard, there is often a justifiable reason to assign blame. But we know from Scripture that Jesus forgives us completely -- our sins have been erased by the blood of Jesus, never to be brought up again. Today, let us use Jesus as our example, and forgive in the same way. Remember, forgiveness means setting somebody free, then realizing that prisoner is you! Forgive today, and be set free .
Its not easy, but necessary .

Key Verse
Phil 1:6(NIV) Being confident of this very thing, (what very thing?) that HE who began a good work in you will be faithful to bring to completion.
The Message bible says it this way, Paul Speaking. "There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind
that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears"..
This is one of the most encouraging verses in the entire Bible, and is a foundational verse for all of us to memorize. (So lets make this the first verse we study and memorize this year)
The first encouragement we see is that God has begun a good work in you. Yes, it's a GOOD work. As a believer, you are the recipient of the finished work of Jesus Christ(The last words spoken from the cross from Jesus were, IT IS FINISHED ! )-- the greatest work ever performed. He has given you and me the gift of salvation! And now you are empowered by His Spirit to be a force for good, too. Ephesians 2:10 says that God has created us for good works; He has prepared them for us, that we would walk in them. You see, God has a specific plan for your life -- He has prepared amazing works for you to accomplish through Him. And the moment you said "yes" to His plan, indeed, He began a good work in you!
The second encouragement we see is that God is faithful to complete the good work that He began. He's not hanging you out to dry; He doesn't leave you alone. He hasn't forgotten you,You are always on His radar. He loves you. The Originator of the good work in you is the faithful One to see it all the way through. He always finishes what He starts! ( How about you ?)Do you finish what you start ? Do you keep your word ? When people think about you , do they think of a person who keeps their word, do you show up when you say you are. Do you call when you cant make an appointment ? Jesus always kept His word. And we are made in His image, we should do the same to best of our abilities. He knows the plans He has for you, and He will complete them(Jer 29:11). Every day you receive new mercies. Every day you get to experience His love and kindness. And every day Jesus' work of grace in your life will cause you to become more like Him, until He comes back to make all things new and you see Him face to face. (Revelation 21:5 ) He who is seated on the throne said" I am making all things new !"Then He said, write these down for they are trust worthy and true"It is Finished "
Heres the best part, don't forget about the very first words of this verse: "Being confident." We can walk and live and breathe with confidence because of His work. The enemy wants you to feel condemned. But Jesus says that you can be confident! The Greek word here means being completely sure and certain in this truth beyond anyone's persuasion otherwise. You can have total surety in your life, with Jesus at the wheel, because God has begun an awesome work in you and promises without a shadow of a doubt to complete it. Never give up; God is at work in your life. When times get hard, just call out this verse and you are going to find some great strength and some great peace and also see more clearly what Gods purposes are or what He wants to teach you in those hard times.
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14
Many people live under the illusion of perfection.( Do you know anybody like that) They think they need to have cosmetic surgery because they aren't pretty or handsome, or skinny or what ever.. They want power and powerful positions and possessions. They crave jewelry and wealth. Why? Because everyone wants to be accepted. We all want to be appreciated and understood. And we can become afraid that people will find out who we really are. But Jesus says forget it. Don't try to patch it up or cover it up, I accept you just as you are, warts and all.,( if you will accept me with my scars and my blemishes.)
Jesus doesn't want to patch up lives; He wants to give new life.. Unless a man is born again -- unless he undergoes a complete rebuild(born again) -- there's no way he'll see heaven or experience the amazing gift of forgiveness and grace at its best. Because God gave His best, (John 3;16) When God brings "new" into your life, it's time to let go of the old. Let go of those old high school and college memories. Let go of the memories as a little girl or a little boy when someone bothered you. Let go of those memories that cause you anger and bitterness. Forget the things that are behind. Forget last years disappointments, and those things that prevent you from seeing God doing new things in your life.
Psalm 138:8
The Lord will fulfill HIS purpose for me,
Your Love O Lord endures forever,
and you will not abandon the works of your hands.( again, what He starts, He will finish)
YOU CANT HAVE A NEW BEGGINING WITH OUT AN OLD ENDING
End those things, or those relationships that are stealing your time and your joy. Use good judgement this year in all areas of your life. Seek Gods face more and more then you ever have so you will experience all that He has for you. Be Obedient, walk in faith, trust Him and don't lean to your own understanding (Proverbs 3-5:6). Just Obey Him.
You see, good judgment comes from experience, but unfortunately these experiences usually comes from bad judgment! We all have a past, and we've all made mistakes. But we can choose to live in the past, repeat it, or learn from it and move forward. May I encourage you today to come to Jesus with all your imperfections, with all your memories and mistakes, and lay them at His feet. No more illusions, no more façade , no more faking it. The former things are gone, and the newness of life in Christ lies ahead .Yield to HIS will and watch 2011 be and amazing year of growth ,blessing , purpose and power.

The uncertain times in which we live challenge our sense of security and well-being. In a world filled with violence, injustice, family problems and break downs in marriage, financial instability, power struggles and natural disasters, how can we live in undisturbed safety? Jesus' words to His disciples seem contradictory -- peace and tribulation just don't go together do they?
This makes no sense unless we realize that Christ's peace is not the same as the world's (John 14:27). "Jesus Speaking" These things I spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. The average person thinks peace will come with an outward change in their circumstances: When I have a better job or more money, or when I achieve this or that, then I will be content. Or, if a particular person in my life changes, then I will feel at ease. But Christ offers a relationship with the Father that fills our hearts with satisfied contentment, no matter what the external conditions may be. And most of time it's not the outer circumstances that control our not having peace, it's our own heart. I have said it before, the heart of the matter, is the matter of the heart.
We need to understand that Christ's offer of peace came, not when everything was going well, but just hours before His disciples' world fell apart. All their hopes and dreams were dashed when Jesus Christ hung on the cross on their behalf and for our benefit.
Although they didn't realize it, Jesus offered them exactly what they would need to cope with the trouble that lay ahead. In the same way, He gives us quiet confidence which anchors our souls in stressful times if we will just rest in Him and the Holy Spirit.
We can never arrange all of life's circumstances so that we feel safe and secure. The way to overcome the world isn't by removing difficulties from one's life. Instead, victory comes from walking through troubles with quiet confidence in God's sovereignty, grace, power and divine purpose for everything He allows. Be thankful in all circumstances and learn from them. That's what I have learned and am learning every day. It's a process.

We all experience trials right?. Our trials come in many different packages and we named some of them above, but often times they involve people. People have hurt us, and we have hurt people, Right? Now God’s greatest commandments are to love God and to love people. Really, is that so? When we don’t know what to do, we can go back to these two commands. That's It? Love God and love people. O, that's easy for you to say but you don't understand my circumstances. You don't understand the pain and disappointments in my life, and You might be right, but God does!

Have you ever noticed Satan will often strike at us when we are trying to do good, as we are attempting to move forward in our walk with God, or as we are trying to encourage other people in the Lord. Trying to make our marriage and home better. Satan wants to distract and destroy us with temptations. But at the same time God wants to purify us with trials. Satan would love for temptations to devastate us and keep us ineffective for Christ, but God wants trials to make us victorious and effective for Him. Because trials help build our character. So when Satan means something for evil, God can always turn it for good. But you have to know how to respond.

When we are going through a trial, what has that trial caused us to do? Has it made you run and hide? Or have you prayed more and reached out to God because of it, not knowing where else to turn? Has the trial shown us that there is a very real spiritual battle going on and we need to be on guard? The only time we should be worrying is when Satan isn't attacking us. If we are not being tempted by the enemy that could very well mean we are not impacting or making a difference in the name of Jesus and furthering the Kingdom for God. So, we are called to rejoice in our trials (James 1:2). Consider it pure joy my brothers (and sisters) whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and perseverance must finish its work so you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. We need to shake off Satan and move forward. Don’t stop. Allow the trial to ignite you spiritually as you seek God and His will for your life. If you remain paralyzed, then Satan won. Are you going to let him win? Or will you move forward with passion, purpose and intensity for God? Don’t quit. Don't give up. We need to persevere.
Now how are we supposed to handle trials that involve people? We are called to love them. But what if we don't "feel" like loving them? Then we need to pray for them because prayer changes the heart of a person. God will change your heart toward that person and they will see Jesus through you and your obedience. Remember that Forgiveness is the key, that will set you free. Release that person, and let go of the past. Get rid of the video tape of that hurt and move on, because when we do, We are reflecting the same Grace that God has shown us when he forgave us.
(Ephesians 4:2. Be humble and gentle, be patient bearing with one another in love) Sometimes, this is not easy is it? And in our pride we just don't want to. I get so convicted because when I say "No! I don't want to," then I am the one sinning against God. This is definitely not an easy command when we are upset and angry. But let us remember Ephesians 4:26 -27, where we are exhorted to not let the son go down while you are angry and by letting anger gain control over [us]…for anger gives a mighty foothold to the Devil.” When we are angry, we are sinning against God. It doesn’t matter what we are angry about, we are sinning. We are in the wrong. We cannot justify anger, unless it is righteous anger. And righteous anger never involves us defending ourselves or our rights. So, God tells us that in regards to the person that we are upset with, we need to be humble and gentle. We have to put their needs above our own. We have to be patient with them, knowing that God is working on their heart also, and we have to forgive them. Are we capable of doing this, Yes, but only buy the strength of the Holy Spirit.
Once again, In Ephesians 4:31-32 are exhorted by Paul to “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” We have to forgive. We have to forgive the people that upset us, not because they ask to be forgiven but because God has forgiven us of our sins. If God could send His only Son to die on the cross to forgive us of all of our sins past, present and future, who are we to not forgive. We need to die to ourselves and humble ourselves remembering that God wants us to walk from our trial victorious not bruised and battered. And He has shown us exactly how to do it; we love. It is a choice.
We choose to love. Love is not an emotion or a feeling, it is a choice. It is a commitment. So, to win this battle we are called to love each other. How do we do that? 1Corintians 13 tells us exactly what love is. Here’s the challenge, truly apply this to your life with everyone you know. Humble yourself and stop thinking about your own needs. You don’t have to worry about your needs because God has you taken care of. Do you believe that? Do you believe that He will provide for all of your needs? Trust Him.Â

Humble yourself and remember “Love never gives up.” 1Corinthians 13:7 Don’t give up on that person. We often want to protect ourselves from getting hurt, so we will run from the people who hurt us or the situation. We don’t deal with it. But when we choose to love, we think of the needs of the other person. In marriage, we don’t give up and quit when it is hard. With kids and friends and loved ones, we don’t give up and walk out on them. We don't run, we press in with faith knowing that this is the will of God.

Also, “Love never loses faith.” 1Corintians 13:7 Love keeps believing even when it cannot see the physical reality of it. Faith is believing without seeing. Don’t lose faith in that person, but trust that God is doing a work in their life. “Love is always hopeful.” (1 Cor. 13:7) Love is always certain that it will work out, even when it hasn’t been realized yet. Love knows the situation will work out for good because our hope is in the Word of God not people. God has made many promises to us and in Romans 8:28 He says, "Therefore, all things will work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose." He also calls us to “Keep on praying. And no matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1Thessalonians 5:17-18  We are called to have an attitude of gratitude no matter the situation because God is bigger than our circumstance. Love can be hopeful because our hope is in the Word of God and in God’s promises, not in man. 1Corintians 13:7 “And love endures through every circumstance.” When we choose to love, we are able to endure the pain and the hardships knowing that we are obeying God, and that is our ultimate motivation. He is calling us to love others. This is sometimes a sacrifice on our part. God never said the Christian life would be easy, but He did promise that as we live in Him we will experience an abundant filled life. It’s all a matter of choice. Have you made that choice to make Him your Lord and savior and to follow Him.
Doesn't the world laugh and make fun of us when we respond like Jesus would. But the world is filled with depressed people who are self-seeking. We as Christians are called to look beyond ourselves and look to Jesus Christ. He is the model for how we should live our life and He loved people. The world would call us blind if we loved people in this way. But love is not blind! Love actually sees more, but it chooses to forget. When God forgives us of our sins, He chooses to forget those sins. He remembers them no more. So, when we forgive someone, we need to choose to forget the wrongs they committed. We need to choose to love them the way God calls us all to love. This is not easy and it can only be done with God’s strength. But we can do it!!! We can face these trials and walk away victorious because we choose to love and obey our AMAZING GOD!

Polls and surveys consistently show that the top three things people want the most in life are love, happiness, and peace. So often we confuse happiness with joy. There is a difference.
Happiness is the result of getting what we want. We tell ourselves that we'll be happy when we get a newer home. Or life will be great if we get a promotion at work and a pay increase.
However, getting what we want only offers a temporary form of happiness that fades over time. We get our new home, and we are so happy until we realize that we, in order to remain happy, must have all the furniture and decorations to go with it. This kind of happiness is dependent on our circumstances, and can be accompanied with a fear that we may lose whatever it is we feel has made us happy.
Joy, however, is a fruit of the Spirit. It comes from within and not from external conditions. Jesus said that we are to abide in Him so that our joy can be complete (John 15:9-11). We can experience the joy of the Lord regardless of our circumstances because joy is dependent on our relationship with Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul instructed the Philippians to rejoice always in the Lord (Philippians 4:4). While this group of believers was anxious about their material needs, Paul reminded them that their joy came from God. They were oppressed and persecuted by the Romans. They suffered economic hardships. Yet they had a reason to be joyful—their lives belonged to the Lord.
The world tries to persuade us that joy is found in material possessions, worldly achievements, and social status. However, true joy comes from the knowledge that we are saved through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)

"Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints." (Philemon 1:7, NIV)
A newspaper obituary caught my eye with this statement: "Services for affable fix-it man are today."
Instead of focusing on one of the movers and shakers of society, the article told the story of a 79-year-old appliance repairman who was known for his integrity, character, and unquenchable happiness.  The president of the company for which the man had worked said, "Half of his job was to go to people's houses and fix the appliances, and the other half was to fix the people. We had a lot of people with problems who requested him by name. He was very jovial, very friendly, and always had a kind word."
No matter what our job, perhaps the most important work we do is helping and encouraging people, especially by what we say.

"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death." Philippians 1:20
Have you ever had expectations that did not get fulfilled? Perhaps a coworker let you down. Perhaps you were trusting God for something in your life that never materialized. Perhaps you became devastated by an un-met expectation that you felt you were entitled to. Expectations can be a difficult trap for each of us if we are not fully committed to God's purposes in our lives.
Paul wrote this verse from prison to the people of Philippi. He had an expectation that his life would bring glory to God, whether through his continued ministry or his death. His joy in living was not based on his expectations getting fulfilled, but on remaining true to the purpose for which God made him.
When we react to circumstances with bitterness and resentment as a result of un-met expectations, we are saying that we know better than God, and that God has made a mistake in not meeting our expectations. The process of resolving un-met expectations may require full disclosure to the individual who was the source of the un-met expectation, and of how the un-met expectation made you feel. This is not to make the person feel obligated to meet the expectation, but simply to share your feelings about it. If God was the source, then it is important to share this with the Lord. However, once we have done this we must let go of the situation and allow God to work in our hearts the grace that is needed to walk in freedom from the pain of the un-met expectation. If we do not do this, we will allow the seed of bitterness and resentment to enter in. This seed of bitterness will create leanness in our soul and eventually will spread to others.
Ask yourself today if you have any un-met expectations. How have you responded to them? Have you processed this with the Lord and others who may be involved? These are the steps to freedom from un-met expectations.

No one escapes trials in life. While pursuing your God-given dreams and desires, you are on a collision course with challenges and disappointments. But these don't have to derail your destiny or dim your dreams.
Here are a few things you and I need to remember when going through hard times.
Number one, remember God is in control. So don't demand to understand all the challenges in life. Just trust in God's Plan. (Proverbs 3:5-6 ) Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your understanding, in all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.
Secondly, remain faithful no matter what the cost, don't give up and quit on your dream no matter what you face. Ask God to give you strength and courage to stay faithful to what He has called you to do. (Isaiah 40:31) Those who wait upon Lord shall renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Third, reject bitterness. Refuse to allow disappointment to cause a root of bitterness to spring forth in your life. There is nothing Satan would like more than unforgivingness or anger to distract you from God's plan for your life. (Jer 29:11) For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to bring you to a future and a hope.
And finally, rest in the providence of God. Be assured that His mighty hand is working on your behalf. He has you on His mind and you are on His radar. Don't try to go ahead or manipulate His plan for your life. (Romans 8:28) And we know that God works all things together for the good to those who Him.
Wait on God's timing and in due time, you will get a better picture and the purpose of why God has allowed you to go through this trial or season.

Have you ever driven down the highway and noticed the “check engine” light? Even if there was no strange engine noise or visible smoke, you knew the warning light meant something was wrong—and most likely you promptly took the car to a mechanic. Why? Because you knew that the warning light was connected to the engine—though you could not see the problem, you saw the warning message.
A similar connection occurs between fear and faith. We may think that our life is running fine, but then the red light of fear begins flashing. That fear signals that it is time to check our engines of faith. Most fears are based on the “what if’s” we generate in our minds, which are often rooted in a distrust in God.
Jesus warned against worrying over these questions: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?...Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:25, 34).
Many people try to escape their fears through alcohol or medication or activity. These are temporary at best, and only compound the problem. The source of the fear remains. The antidote to fear is in the promises of God, not in escapism.
If we do not learn how to master our fears, our fears will master us. In order to conquer our fears, we must do two things: pray our fears out, while praying faith in; and claim the very power of God.
When we cry out to God, He will listen to us. God loves to hear the cries of His children who seek to grow in faith. The psalmist declared, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4). When we realize our own inadequacies and our total dependence on God, we take a first step in overcoming our fears. We can be confident that a prayer for faith is one that will be answered.
God will help us when we acknowledge our fears in prayer. He wants us to share with Him the cause of our concerns. Even when we don’t know the source of our anxiety, the Holy Spirit will work on our behalf when we seek His help. We may fool the people around us with a brave face, but our masks never fool God. He knows what is in our hearts, and He wants us to confess those fears to Him.
Once you have confessed your fears out, begin praying faith in. Turn to the Word of God and incorporate His promises into your prayers. Draw strength from God’s promises as Abraham did: “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” Romans 4:20,21.
Pray for God’s power in your life. Part of the reason for Jesus’ time here on earth was to demonstrate His power. He showed us that God’s Messiah has power to redeem us from our sins, to heal diseases, and to still whatever storms we face in life. God wants to show us that power today. He waits until we run out of human solutions before manifesting His power to His children. When we try to draw on our own strength, peace and sufficiency instead of God’s, we end up in the stormy waters. Only the power of God which sustains the universe can sustain us in every circumstance we face.
Are you trying to escape your fear, or conquer it through human methods? Or do you seek the power of God, the only One who gives victory over anxiety? Spend time in prayer today, sending fear out and faith in, and drawing upon the power of God.
"The Lord is my Light and my Salvation--whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1
